Upstairs Downstairs was born in San Francisco in the spring of 2008. With a considered mix of thoughtful lyrics, folk-tinged melodies and a dose of feedback, the results fallsomewhere on the spectrum between indie folk rock and shoegaze with a stop somewhere along the way for pop.

"The new album bounces between borderline shoegaze material and folk rock, driven by moving vocal melodies (led by Ford’s powerful voice) and McGraw’s intricate and often soaring guitar work. It’s a gripping record from start to finish, pulling inspiration from a myriad of influences."

"Shoegaze influence indie/folk-rock from San Francisco is not an original idea by any means, but when you start blending in vintage country music with sweeping organ lines… now we have got something special brewing on the west coast."
